Meet Fergus Scully

The tradition of celebrating, organizing, and participating in St. Patrick’s Day parades runs deep for Fergus Scully. Originally from Ireland, Fergus grew up watching his father serve as Chairman of their hometown parade in Mountmellick, County Laois. In the early years of the Hampton Bays St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Fergus was involved as a participant, building a float each year to enter in the parade. Over time, his involvement has grown tremendously. Many of you may even recognize him from the Grand Stand, where he has served as the Parade M.C. for the past ten years.

Fergus first came to Long Island in the 1990s for a summer job and quickly fell in love with the East End. A few years later, he made Hampton Bays his permanent home. Today, Fergus and his wife, Liz, are raising two daughters, Caelinn and Saorla, both students at Hampton Bays High School.

One of the many responsibilities of the Hampton Bays St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is selecting a Grand Marshal to lead the parade and be honored by the community each year. As a long-time committee member, this is a process Fergus knows well—he has often recommended community members he felt deserved the honor. A Grand Marshal is meant to embody leadership, service, and selfless contributions to the local community.

As an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Michael Collins Division 11, Fergus has been involved in far more than parade planning. Over the years, he has taken part in countless fundraisers to help families in need, supported scholarships for local students, and dedicated time to organizing events that celebrate Irish culture. When he is not working on AOH projects, Fergus can often be found coaching his daughters’ soccer team with the Southampton Soccer Club, cheering them on at Hampton Bays school events, or hosting the monthly Pub Quiz trivia night at Buckley’s Inn Between.

Fergus is deeply honored to serve as Grand Marshal of the 14th Annual Hampton Bays St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
